The Planning Commission of West Finley Township held their Organization Meeting on Monday, January 5, 2026 in the Township Office Building. In attendance were Commission Members David Pritt, Mark Adams, and Melinda Duncan.
Others in attendance included the following: Henrietta and Glenn O’Brien, Tracey and Mark Smith, Bobbi and Tracey Shaulis, Tim Moore, Tim Collins, Jerry and Brenda Seibel, Dave Minch, Claire Hagan, Edie Minch, John and Debra Swart, Cathy and Steve Emery, Cindy and Dave Kuhn, Debra Selmon, Warren Duncan, Brandon Gray, Mara Santis, Herb Morris, and Bill Riggle.
Call to Order
The call to order was made by Acting Chairman Pritt at 5:30 pm.
Motion by Melinda Duncan to appoint Dave Pritt as Temporary Chairman. Second by Mark Adams. All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried.
Motion by Pritt to appoint Amanda Yankovich as Temporary Secretary. Second by Mark Adams. All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried.
Organization of Planning Commission Board
Motion by Mark Adams to nominate Dave Pritt as Permanent Chairman. Second by Melinda Duncan. All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried.
Chairman Pritt motioned to make Mark Adams Vice Chairman. Second by Melinda Duncan. All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried.
Appoint Secretary
Vice Chairman Adams motioned to make Amanda Yankovich permanent Secretary, seconded by Chairman Pritt. All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried.
Reading of Prior Meeting Minutes
The Secretary read the minutes from the December 8, 2025 meeting. The motion to approve the minutes was made by Vice Chairman Adams and seconded by Member Duncan. All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried.
Establish Meetings
Generally, the Planning Commission meets, as needed, before the monthly Board of Supervisors meeting. In the past, the starting time has been 5:45 pm, but as the time for the regular Board meetings will most likely change, the new time for the Planning Commission meetings will be 6:00pm.
Public Comment
Tracey Smith inquired about the amount of time the Planning Commission has to review materials pertinent to the meeting. Chairman Pritt answered that information is passed along to the Board as it is received.
Tim Collins asked if the Planning Commission had to be the three members of the Board of Supervisors. He suggested having residents added to the Supervisors on the Planning Commission. After some discussion, Member Duncan motioned to advertise for candidates for two positions on the Planning Commission Board. Vice Chair Adams seconded the motion. All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried.
Unfinished Business
The Township received comments and suggestions for revisions pertaining to the proposed Zoning Ordinance from Strategic Solutions and the Washington County Planning Commission. As there are two new members to the Planning Commission, this topic was tabled to allow the members time to review the documents. Member Duncan suggested scheduling another meeting, next Monday, at 5:30 pm to discuss the proposed changes.
